I was looking over some videos for “Throwback Thursdays” and came across the Karrine Steffans AKA, Superhead Interview. Now I know Karrine doesn’t want to be called Superhead but unfortunately she can never live down that name. It’s like an old saying I use to hear about warriors…”you live by the sword, you die by the sword.” In the case of Karrine, the name Superhead became her trademark and it was the corner stone of how she was able to able to take her 15 minutes of fame and transform it into a brand, which is extremely difficult to do.

You see most vixens have a 2-3 year lifespan in the magazine, music video circuit. But when Karrine came out with her juicy tell-all “Confessions of a Video Vixen“, the magazines started to write feature articles about her instead of just showcasing her pictures. From a marketing standpoint it was brilliant and it was this type of publicity that attracted Tracey Edmonds to the project. Moreover, Karrine’s story was exactly what major publications like HarperCollins were looking for as they were trying to convey the message that black women are hypersexual. I’m sure she wants to grow beyond the original type cast that she created for herself but unfortunately the fans and haters will never forgive her for her inappropriate boldness, courage, and ambition.

Watch Karrine’s video and ask yourself what would you do if you were in her shoes.
